Day 1: FEZ - MIDDLE ATLAS - MERZOUGA SAHARA DESERT

We will pick you up at 8:00 am from your hotel or riad and depart Fez toward Merzouga, passing through Ifrane — a picturesque mountain town affectionately known as "the Switzerland of Morocco" — before continuing on to Midelt. Along this scenic drive, you'll be treated to sweeping glimpses of both the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountain ranges.

A highlight stop awaits at Azrou, a charming Berber village nestled within Morocco's largest cedar forest, where Barbary macaques roam freely among the ancient trees. After time spent exploring the forest, the journey continues toward Midelt through a magnificent tapestry of rolling hills and dramatic mountain scenery. Beyond Midelt, the road winds through the striking Tizi N'Talghamt pass and the breathtaking Ziz Gorge, where the High Atlas plateau opens up before you and the landscape gradually shifts, offering the first whispers of the desert ahead.

Arriving in Errachidia, you'll pause for a leisurely lunch and a taste of genuine Berber warmth and hospitality. The afternoon journey then carries you along the lush and legendary Ziz Valley, with stops for panoramic views as you make your way through Erfoud and Rissani toward your final destination.

You'll arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon, welcomed with a refreshing glass of mint tea before setting off on a guided camel trek across the glowing golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun dips below the horizon, your experienced camel guide leads you deeper into the magical sand sea. The evening ends with a traditional dinner served in front of your tent beneath a sky blazing with stars.

Day 2 :MERZOUGA DESERT – MIDELT – IFRAN – FES

Rise early to witness the sunrise painting the dunes of Erg Chebbi in shades of gold and amber — undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking moments the Merzouga desert has to offer.

After a satisfying breakfast, begin the scenic journey back to Fez, retracing the stunning route through the lush Ziz Valley and the ancient cedar forest of Azrou. Along the way, a lively colony of Barbary macaques lines the roadside, guaranteed to bring smiles and plenty of photo opportunities.

The return trip is a leisurely and enjoyable one — with generous stops for coffee, lunch, photographs, and a little wandering as you travel through enchanting forests, dramatic valleys, and soaring mountain landscapes. The journey culminates with a pass through Ifrane, the charming alpine town fondly known as the "Switzerland of Morocco," before your driver drops you safely back at your riad or hotel in Fez at around 6:00 pm.

Is Fes Safe?

Fes is as safe as any other city in Morocco. It is even safer than most touristy cities in Europe. Police are now patrolling the Medina and they are visible everywhere. You just need to take the common. precautions like anywhere else in the world: – Avoid empty Medina streets, especially unlit narrow alleyways of Fes at night – Women traveling alone need to dress moderately. The less attractive you dress, the less attention you get. – Do not carry a lot of cash on you. – Be prepared to be annoyed by touts and fake guides every now and then. Just ignore them, and a firm ”NO” would keep them away. – A local licensed guide hired by your riad or tour company would be of great efficiency in the Medina of Fes. Not only by explaining a big deal of history, architecture, religion, etc but also by keeping you safe all the time. – very rare pickpocketing cases were registered recently in Fes. Keep your valuables, passports, and jewelry at your hotel safe. Physical aggression is very rare.
